Description of the ship

The two-masted clipper Rode Swan was built in 1880 for cargo shipping on the Rhine. The beautiful streamlined hull makes the Rode Swan an ideal ship for sailing on the dynamic Dutch Wadden Sea and the IJsselmeer.

Since spring 2019 Vincent and Dorette are the proud owners of the Rode Swan. They live and work on board all year round. From April to October they are together the professional crew during the sailing trips. Vincent and Dorette not only steer and maneuver the ship together with the guests. The two enthusiastic owners have made it their main task to show the guests the nature (wonders) of the Wadden Sea and also to explain the art of sailing and winds to everyone on board. This makes the Rode Swan ideal for groups who want to discover and experience sailing and nature.

In between sailing activities you can relax in one of the many comfortable cushions on deck and enjoy the wonderful view. Below deck, the cozy nautical lounge invites you to linger. The ship is also suitable for smaller groups who want more privacy due to the division into 13 cabins. The Rode Swan needs at least 10 active guests on board to unfold the full sailing experience.

The fully equipped open kitchen with a large stove and oven is available to all guests and connects directly to the day room. The hull of the Rode Swan also has the advantage that there is plenty of space inside, with up to 2.5 meters of headroom in the front area.
