This elegant lady ran in 1878 on one of the many yards of Kinderdijk (on the Lek) from the stack. It was built as a stevenaak, which is a "carrying" cargo ship with excellent sailing characteristics, which proves it especially in headwinds.
In addition to the usual risks of regular cargo shipping, she - unlike many of her contemporaries - escaped scrapping despite the changing economy. In 1994, major restoration work was undertaken, and two years later began her second youth as a sailing ship.
Since then, the MINERVA together with the competent crew has prepared a fantastic time on the water for many guests. We hope to welcome you on board as well.
